AS Roma vs Inter Milan Preview

by Philip Mboya on March 26, 2010

Inter Milan face their toughest test this season when they play Roma tomorrow in a match that could reignite the Gialloroso’s scudetto hopes. Roma are in second position in the league and 4 points behind Inter but level on points with Milan although the Giallorosso have a better goal difference.

Tomorrows match kicks-off at 1800hrs CET at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Beating Roma on home soil will not be an easy task for Jose Mourinho. Roma have played 15 games this season at the Stadio Olimpico and have only lost twice in the process. They have drawn once and won 12 of their home games.

Mourinho will be up against a much improved Roma who have made no secret about their plans concerning their plans of winning their first scudetto in 9 years. Coming off an impressive rout of bottom side Livorno in their midweek fixture, the Nerazzurri will be encouraged to know that their summer signing Samuel Eto’o is back to scoring ways.

Eto’o scored a brace for Inter to help them remain firmly on course for their 5th successive scudetto. Eto’o's goals were his first in the league for Inter since last December. The Cameroonian International has struggled to make an impact in the Serie A but that seems to be changing. Eto’o's goal knocked EPL club Chelsea out of the Champions League and the former Barca player has looked very lethal ever since.

Injuries and suspensions are a major worry for Roma. They will be without talisman Francesco Totti, while Mirko Vucinic, Simone Perotte, Juan and Jeremy Menez are doubtful for the match. Inter on the other hand will be without key players Davide Santon and Dejan Stankovic, while Lucio, Sneijderand Zanetti are doubtful for the match.

This will be tough match to call and considering the factors at play i foresee a 1-1 draw. However, there is always the possibility that things can turn out different.
