Big Win For Inter

by David on February 7, 2010

Big win for Inter today as they outclassed Cagliari 3-0 and with the win, and the Milan draw, Inter moved 10 points clear at the top of Serie A.

Goran Pandev and Walter Samuel gave Inter a dream start, both scoring in the first 20 minutes, and then Diego Milito wrapped it up in the second half.

True to his admission in the pre-match press conference Mourinho renounced playing a diamond and fielded three strikers with Eto’o returning to the starting lineup for the first time since his return from Africa Cup of Nations duty. With Sneijder out suspended and Stankovic still not fit, the Portuguese went for a midfield line of Zanetti, Cambiasso and Thiago Motta. Cordoba and Samuel were recalled in defence with Lucio sitting out the Week 23 clash through suspension.

Overall a good win for Inter. The Serie A title race is all but over and with the Champions League match against Chelsea right around the corner it will be interesting to see sort of team that Mourinho puts out in the first leg. Chelsea are very good at counter-attacking but Inter obviously need to score at home if they are to have any hope of advancing.

Will Mourinho go with three up front against Chelsea in Pandev, Milito and Eto’o, or will he go with just Milito and Eto’o and front and play Pandev just behind them in a diamond formation?

Which asks the question. What is Inter’s best formation? Is it 4-3-3 or is it 4-4-2 with the diamond in midfield?

Mutari is horrible. He pass stray ball and lost possession easily. If not for his unnecessary tackle, Milito would have been through to score Inter’s 4th goal. Mutari is a defensive mf, but he positioned himself very upfront as if he wish to score. But his shooting sucks. i hope Mou never use him again. There are many players who can play his role, such as Motta, Cambiasso and the new guy, Mac.
