Castellazzi Post Match Reaction: “Referees can make mistakes, but…”

“We can make excuses for the ref if we want, let’s excuse him because everyone makes mistakes, but that episode out on the pitch today was an important one. It’s pretty obvious that as I pull my hands in I’m trying not to touch him, quite the opposite of what can be said for their player, but of course I couldn’t just vanish completely. Some people said I should have protested more but I had just been booked and I didn’t want to get sent off; I think the ref was already full of doubts when he made the decision.”

Luca Castellazzi found it hard to accept the penalty decision and, speaking to Inter Channel, he explained in detail the episode in the 50th minute which lead to Orsato giving Beghessio a penalty that was decisive for Inter’s defeat against Catania:

“I’ve seen it again and it seems clear to me that there was no contact. It’s a shame the game hinged on it. President Pulvirenti said I was the best player on the pitch? That’s nice in a way, but on the other hand it’s just something you say when you want to emphasise that your team was the better of the two.”
