Inter’s president Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Inter are in talks to sell Maicon to Real Madrid but has warned the Spanish side that Maicon will not be sold on the cheap.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Moratti said:
“We do not want to sell Maicon because he is an excellent player. Do they expect a discount in Madrid? The Brazilian has been requested, but everyone has their own evaluation that they feel is right. I consider the player to be indispensable for us to aim high. People from Madrid have made contact, but we are calm and Maicon is too.”

I thought the Javier Mascherano to Inter deal was all set. Mascherano wants to come to Inter and play for his former boss Rafa Benitez. But it appears that Liverpool are asking way too much money for the defensive midfielder and as a result Inter is starting to look elsewhere.
Inter president Massimo Moratti would love to add Mascherano but might instead opt for the cheaper version on Melo:
“Mascherano is strong, but it is unlikely that he will come,’ said Moratti. “He costs too much and it’s not even a given that Liverpool will sell him. Felipe Melo? It’s an intriguing idea which we are working on.”

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is telling reporters that he does not want to move from Palermo to the Premier League, but instead wants to move to Inter.
“As a player I have two dreams: to do well at the World Cup and to wear the shirt of Inter Milan. It would be nice to stay in Italy fighting for the Scudetto and the Champions League with the Nerazzurri.”
Cavani has been impressive in the World Cup so far and he says that he would love to play for Rafa:

Put the world’s best players in one place for a month and the rumors will start to fly about who is going where this summer. These are some of the rumors that I am hearing about Inter.
Outgoing:
Maicon to Real Madrid: I wrote about this yesterday with Inter and Real Madrid expected to agree on a deal worth around €30 million for the fullback. Odds on this deal happening are very high.
Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United: This is a new rumor that says Manchester United will make a £20 million bid for Sneijder. Sneijder was a huge part of Inter’s success last season and I think the odds of this transfer rumor become reality is very low.

Real Madrid have targeted Inter’s right-back Maicon for most of the summer and it looks like they are going to get their man.
Real Madrid have reportedly already offered €25 million for the Brazilian with Inter holding out for €35 million. So lets split the difference and settle on €30 million. €30 million for a right-back, even one as good as Maicon, is a lot of money and something that Rafael Benitez’s assistant Amadeo Carboni doesn’t think that Inter can turn down:

So one day after saying that Inter will not spend any more at goalkeeping position this summer, comes news that Inter have signed 34-year-old Luca Castellazzi from Sampdoria to be Julio Cesar’s backup next season.
Think of the odds you would have gotten on Rafa Benítez’s first signing being a goalkeeper!!
Castellazzi, who is a free transfer signed a two year deal with Inter. He made 94 appearances for Sampdoria in four years after joining them in 2005. His season was cut short last season as he made only 19 appearances before losing his place to Marco Storari.

Inter have sold Ricardo Quaresma to Besiktas for a reported €7.3 million.
Quaresma arrived at Inter in 2008 from Porto for a fee of €18.6million plus Pele, who was valued at around €6 million. But the two-time Portuguese player of the year made very little impact at Inter in the first season and was shipped off to Chelsea on loan for six months.
The loan spell did not help Quaresma, who barely played at Chelsea. He returned to Inter last summer but made just 13 appearances as he fell out of favor of Jose Mourinho.

Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano indicated that a move to Italy is in his future saying:
“I’m learning Italian while I’m here in South Africa. I don’t know what I will do after the tournament. We shall see.”
Mascherano is a favorite of Rafa Benitez and reports say that Inter will offer Liverpool £25million for the defensive midfield star.

Inter Milan are set to undergo drastic changes this summer as they seek to repeat their history making feat in the new season. With Mourinho out, there is still much uncertainty as to who will be his replacement. Although the Italian media has strongly linked former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez with a move to the San Siro, Inter chief Massimo Moratti is yet to make any official contact with the Spaniard.

Inter Milan’s Brazilian defender Douglas Maicon is the first player to openly hint at a possible move to Real Madrid. Now this might not come as a surprise however, the Brazilian’s statement is bound to raise a few eyebrows in Milan . Maicon was Inter’s star defender towards the end of the 2009/2010 campaign and Mourinho is keen on bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu for a fresh challenge.
“What I want is to play for Madrid and it would be an honour for me to be there because I have said it would be a great opportunity in my career,” Maicon told AS.
