One thing that amazes me about human nature is our ability to quickly forget. I came across some reports from Spain that shocked me to say the least. Former Inter star Zlatan Ibrahimovic publicly slammed his former club for reasons nobody will ever know.
The ironical thing is that his comments come midway through the first half of the season. I honestly believe that he wanted to create a little bit of a media frenzy before Barca’s champions league tie against Rubin Kazan. However it did not work. The only thing he succeeded in doing, was to turn his loyal supporters into his enemies.
Last season Ibra was Inter’s top scorer and he helped them secure the scudetto without any real challenge from Milan and Juve. Funny enough, i did not hear him complaining then. Now after scoring five goals in Barca’s opening five games he thinks that he is the next big thing in football.
What really ticks me off is that he is forgetting his ‘roots’. Inter is the club that gave him the platform to become who he is today. His team-mates, the coaching staff all these people helped mold him into a world class striker-which he is. But with that kind of attitude i am sorry to say he won’t live upto his full potential.
The same thing happened to Eto’o albeit this time it was his coach who dishonourably claimed that there was nothing more he could offer the club. I cannot forget what he said. All this coming after Eto’o had given the club nothing but his best.
However, Barca’s biggest loss was to be Inter’s biggest gain. We all know what Eto’o is capable of doing. We know that he is one of the most dangerous srikers in football at the moment. And we also know that he wants to show his former club the mistake they made in selling him. I wish Zlatan all the best with his new team but i also know that when these sides meet again in the champions league, there will be little love shown.
