Inter drew 1-1 at Parma, a result that saw them extend their Serie A lead to nine points.
The goals came in a four minute spell early in the second half. Parma’s Valeri Bojinov took advantage of a failed clearance to poke home Cristian Zaccardo’s header, and Inter’s reply came from a similar scenario, Mario Balotelli finishing from close range after Lucio’s flick on.
Inter had the best chances in the first half as the attacking trio of Samuel Eto’o, Goran Pandev and Diego Milito caused regular problems. Unfortunately the quality of Inter’s finishing did not match it attacking plan.
Pandev tested Antonio Mirante from long range after just two minutes with a crisp strike, but the best chance of the half fell to Milito, who saw his half-volley from close range tipped around the post after a terrific long ball from Thiago Motta.
Parma started the second half brighter and it was not a surprise when Bojinov put them one up. Inter manager Jose Mourinho responded immediately to the Parma goal by bringing on Davide Santon and Balotelli. Balotelli making an immediate impact with his goal.
Overall a pretty good point away from home. I am linking the attacking partnership of Eto’o, Pandev and Milito, and I think they will cause Chelsea some problems in the Champions League. My worry is starting to be at the other end of the park, with whether the Inter defence is strong enough to shut out top teams like Chelsea.
