Inter Need To Strike Balance In Europe As Well As At Home

by Philip Mboya on October 10, 2009

It seems like everywhere Eto’o goes he is bound to cause a problem for opposing defenders. At barcelona he was simply unstoppable. Last season alone, he managed to score more than 35 goals in all competitions for Barca not forgetting his goal in the champions league final.

However, i feel the way barca treated him at the end of the season was wrong. Coach Guardiola’s comments about Eto’o  were very hard to take in especially after his achievements for the  club. Here is a player who has been the top scorer in La Liga for the past 5 years.

The breath of fresh air that Guardiola implied while trying to sell this world class striker to me seemed like a disguise for major problems in the Barca dressing room. That said, Inter‘s acquisition of Eto’o and company is bound to produce some very positive results. They only need to strike a good balance at home and in Europe.

While their arch rivals Ac Milan seem to prevail in Europe, the nerazzuri fair better in the Serie A. Inter have what it takes to lift this trophy but they will have to find the right combination if they want to make it to the final. Mourinho will have to do more to inspire his lads to the final.

Currently they are in 3rd position in group f with only 2 points from 2 games. Barca Mourinho’s nemesis lead this group with 4 points .  This current squad has some of the finest players in world football. Brazilian defender Lucio, Dutchman Sneidjer, Eto’o and Diego Milito are just a few of them.

As for the scudetto, Inter are strong candidates to lift this trophy again for the fourth time consecutively. Juve still pose a big threat to their chances and Milan still have another 31 games to win their first Serie A title in 5 years. With Eto’o keen on reapeting the success he had in Barcelona at Milan, this will tuly be a season to remember.
