In a repeat of last years memorable Champions League final, Inter will face Bayern Munich in the first knockout round of this years competition.
Neither club has so far replicated last season’s good form with Inter in seventh place in the Italian league standings while Bayern languishing in a distant sixth place in Germany.
“We’re looking forward to these games,” Bayern vice chairman Karl Hopfner said. “I think we’ve got to make up for the past and I think the players are up for it.”
Inter president Massimo Moratti spoke to Inter Channel and Mediaset about the UEFA Champions League draw, which paired Inter with Bayern Munich, from Inter’s hotel in Abu Dhabi.
“It’s an interesting draw. They’ll see it as a chance to get their revenge. A lot will depend on what shape they and we are in at that stage of the season – psychologically and physically. We’ve faced Bayern Munich lots of times in the past, it’s almost a traditional fixture, but it’s too early to analyse it now: the games won’t be played for another couple of months.”
We have about two months until the first leg and a lot can happen between now and then. But with a healthy squad and Milito playing well up front, I expect Inter to progress over the two legs. Bayern’s defence is not very good and I think Inter can once again take advantage of that.
What do you think of the draw?
