Inter’s Upcoming Fixtures Could Make Or Break Their Season

by Philip Mboya on November 18, 2009

Inter are cruising at the top of the Serie A with 29 points from 12 matches, with their nearest challengers 2nd place Juventus and 3rd place AC Milan being the only other ‘big’ teams who can come close to denying the Nerazzurri another scudetto win.

However, things might just be heating up for Inter if their upcoming fixtures are anything to go by.Their  Serie A action resumes after a short break with a rather easy fixture away to 15th place Bolonga. I expect Inter to get all the three points this Saturday when they take on a Bologna side that has only managed to get 12 points from their opening12 games.

Now the next three ties after the Bologna match is what will really be the acid test for Jose Mourinho. On Tuesday 24th November Inter travel to Spain to play Barcelona in a Uefa champions league group f encounter. Currently leading the group on 6 points just 1 point above Barca , this match will decide who stands the chance of finishing top of the group.

Inter’s troubles do not stop there. The following weekend, they are at home to an impressive 4th place Fiorentina who are just 8 points behind them in the title race. The amazing strike duo of Adrian Mutu and Stefan Jovetic will surely be out with a mission to stop the high flying Milanians.

The matches don’t get any easier as their next opponents will be the mighty Juventus who they will play away at the Olympic Stadium in Turin. This match is a potential title race decider and Inter should well prepare for this match lest they stumble.

Inter fans are definitely in for a nerve racking couple of days in the Serie A. Mourinho will have to prepare his squad mentally and physically if he is to Prevail. Nonetheless, these matches will play a huge role in the outcome of Inter’s title hopes.
