Italian Legend Praises Inter

by Philip Mboya on February 17, 2010

Sandro Mazzola the legendary Italian midfielder heaped praises on his former club Inter Milan saying that the current Serie A champions have “no weaknesses”.

This is a statement i totally agree with. Inter Milan have everything going for them and they are playing some very good football. Now, i know you probably have not heard about Mazzzola, but being an Inter fan you definitely know about the great Inter side of  the 60s. La Grande Inter as it was known were efficient in Europe just as they are right now in the league

Inter’s 1964 European cup  mouth watering final against Real Madrid was a a game that not only won them the cup but it also cement Mazzola as one of Italy’s best midfielders. Mazzola scored twice that night. Mazzola played for the Nerazzurri more than 400 times scoring 116 goals-this an impressive statistic by any record.

Mazzola believes that the current form Inter is showing is capable of emulating the form of the 60s era. Undefeated this season, the Italian champions will be looking to go one better when they take on EPL leaders Chelsea in the knock out stages of the Uefa champions league next week. According to Mazzola, Mourinho displays similar characteristics that remind him of  Helenio Herrara Inter’s coach during the 60s.

May be this little bit of inspiration from one of their greats is all  they need to spur them into action. However, one thing is for sure, Inter is unstoppable.

Wow! “No weaknesses”… “Unstoppable”… With all do-respect, are you crazy?
I am Inter fan for long time, and we have had good teams before… So far I am not that sure yet, this year we have the best team even in Moratti era…
Some people criticized Inter of last few years on dependence from Ibrahimovic, but now the team is even more dependent from Snejder. If he doesn’t play (or doesn’t perform at the highest level), the team doesn’t show the same quality football. Opposite, a few months back we saw Barcelona dominating Inter without Messi and Ibra!!!
Also while Inter was playing Serie A and the Champions League games in fall, we struggled… Last couple of months we could focus on Seria A only, which we dominate for last 5 years, so every time we get a few wins in a row, we feel we are unstoppable… until we get in elimination rounds of the Champions League.
So I would hold off any compliments to Inter until we play at least one game against Chelsea.
I definitely hope this is the year we can finally win the Champions League, and I do believe this team has potential to do that, but potential is nothing, the results will show.
