cesarAt the last international break there was a lot of chatter about Julio Cesar and whether he was heading to Manchester United. Well it looks like that was nothing but chatter as news came today that Inter ‘keeper Julio Cesar has inked a new contract with the Italian champions, which will tie him to the club until 2014.

The Brazilian number one emerged all smiles from a meeting with vice-president Rinado Ghelfi and technical director Marco Branca today, and told the club’s official website that he was delighted to have committed his long-term future to the Nerazzurri.

“I’m very happy and I want to thank president [Massimo] Moratti and the entire club,” the 30-year-old enthused. “I have already won so much with Inter, but our strength is to continue to work to reach many new goals. Now I want to celebrate with many new victories!”

Julio Cesar has made over 150 appearances in all competitions since joining Inter in 2005. He quickly replaced Francesco Toldo as the team’s first-choice ‘keeper, and has enjoyed considerable success with the Beneamata after winning four scudetti and the 2006 Coppa Italia.
