So it looks like Javier Mascherano has agreed to personal terms with Barcelona and all that is left is for Barca and Liverpool to agree on a price for the midfielder. Barcelona have offered around £12m but Liverpool want closer to £21m.
I am not too disappointed that Mascherano will not be heading to Inter. We already have Cambiasso in that position and he can play three or four more years for Inter. There is no need to spend around £20 million for this position at the moment.
Reports out of England say that Inter have have an offer of £7.5m plus Victor Obinna for Dirk Kuyt turned down by Liverpool. Other Inter platers named as potentially taking part in the deal are Sulley Muntari and Mancini. A deal of £8 million in cash might get the deal done and if Inter can get rid of Muntari so much the better.
I like Kuyt in that you get a lot of effort from him every game. My guess is that he would play on the right side of midfield and that Rafa would play Milito and Eto’o up-front together.
As for Obinna, who really impressed me on Inter’s North America tour, there are reports that he is in London today talking to West Ham about a potential move there. Hopefully that would only be loan deal and not a sale as I still believe he could be a special player for Inter in the future.

Never been a Mascherano fan anyway and Inter are good without him. As for Obinna, i think he should stay with the Nerazzurri. He adds that level of expectancy that keeps us glued to the screen.
Obinna has too much talent to let go of him. He can play left, right wing and as a center attack. I hope it’s only a loan.
