Little surprised to hear that Inter are trying to hijack Juventus deal for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Despite Gianluigi Buffon having another brilliant season, Juve know that the 39-year-old cannot keep playing for every. At some point they will need to find a replacement for Buffon, and it looks like they have identified Szczesny as that person.
Szczesny has spent the last two seasons on loan at Roma, but since the loan agreement did not include a buyout option, that has opened the door for other clubs who are keen to sign the 27-year-old who will leave Arsenal this summer.
Arsenal want €20 million for Szczesny, and reports out of England say that Juventus are offering around €10 million and Napoli €14m.
Szczesny is obviously very familiar to Inter boss Luciano Spalletti and former Roma technical director Walter Sabatini, and the fact that he is being linked to Inter puts into question the future of Samir Handanović.
The stats for last season show that Szczesny would be a slight upgrade over Handanović. The big difference is that Inter would get a goalkeeper who is five years longer, which is similar to the Perisic or Bernardeschi debate.
From the transfer rumors it appears that Suning and Spalletti are determined to make Inter younger next season, and if they can swap out an older player with a younger play at the same level, who still has some upside potential they will do it.
What do you think of Wojciech Szczesny? Is he an upgrade over Samir Handanović.
