mottaInter midfielder Thiago Motta faces around a month out after tearing his right thigh muscle during Sunday’s Serie A victory at Cagliari Calcio.

The 27-year-old Brazilian has impressed for Inter this season following a summer switch from Genoa CFC but now faces a spell recuperating from injury after picking up the problem during the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 triumph in Sardinia. Brazilian Motta is expected to miss the games against Napoli, Sampdoria and Udinese, as well as two Champions League fixtures.

A statement on Inter’s official website reads:

“Inter’s medical staff, under the direction of professor Franco Combi, carried out the necessary tests on Thiago Motta following the injury he sustained against Cagliari. The results show an injury to one of his semitendinous muscles in his right leg. For now the player will continue with a programme of therapy established by the medical staff.”
