Inter Milan laboured to a 2-1 dramatic win over Dynamo Kiev in the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday night to revive their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage. I must be honest and say that both of Inter‘s goals were a little bit sloppy. However, i must give them credit for their never say die attitude that ensured they go all the way to the top of group f.
Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder Inter’s playmaker were on the score sheet for the Italians. And once again Sheva showed that his keen eye for goal is still pretty much intact. Inter now have an even mightier task at home on Sunday when they host Claudio Ranieri’s Roma at the Guiseppe Meazza stadium.
Currently in 14th place, Roma will be keen to ensure they bag all the three points on Sunday. Their injury laden team will have to look for inspiration from somewhere else as Talisman Totti is a doubt for the match. Mourinho knows that the overriding goal this season will be to match his teams performance in the Serie A to the Champions league.
I am almost tempted to give Inter an easy victory considering their current form however, Roma is a team that should not be taken lightly. The match will indeed be used as a litmus test for the scudetto race. Inter’s arch rivals AC Milan will also be in action against another Roman side this weekend.
Milan play Lazio and in Rome’s famous Olympic stadium and they will be determined to win so as to keep the pressure on Inter. The job is not done in the champions league. The big showdown in Barcelona will determine if the Nerazzurri make it to the knockout stage. Inter should be warned that Barca will not allow another negative result in Europe after their shock loss to Rubin Kazan. And likewise Barca should look out for Eto’o, a player they dishonourably dismissed from their club.
