Shocking Performance By Inter

by David on February 18, 2012

An absolutely shockingly bad performance by Inter today as they lost 3-0 at home to Bologna. Inter have now lost four of their last five Serie A games and that third Champions League place looks like a distant hope now.

Sometimes teams play poorly, and I understand that, but what worried me tonight was how confused and out of sorts Inter looked. There was no rhythm to their attack, no coordination between midfield and attack. How many times did we see a striker make a run in one direction only for the ball to be played somewhere else? It was as if they had never played together before.

Inter won trophies on the strength of its defense, but that strength is gone. Luciuo and Ranocchia were shocking tonight and were at fault for all three Bologna goals.

Defensive Mistakes
Lucio got beat far too easily by Ramirez on a thrown in and his cross eventually found its way to Di Vaio to score.

A minute later it was Ranocchia’s turn to give away a goal, as he chested a simple long ball into the path of Di Vaio for the second goal.

On the third, Acquafresca ran past Nagatomo and Lucio was to slow to come over and cut him off before he scored.

Missed Chances
Inter missed three great chances to score. When it was 0-0 Maicon was unmarked from a Sneijder corner but headed straight at the goalkeeper. Later in the first half Forlan was one on one with Gillet but the Bologna keeper saved it with his legs.

And then in the second half, after a great run from Nagatomo, he squared the ball to Forlan, whose weak effort was saved by Gillet.

Coaching Decisions
I don’t understand Ranieri’s system. Why play Forlan and Sneijder out on the wings when they are both much more effective playing down the middle? When trailing 2-0, why take off a forward (Forlan) and bring on a midfield player Poli. And speaking of Poli, why wasn’t he starting in the first place?

With Ranieri’s system their is no width. Sneijder looks to turn everything inside onto his right foot, while there is nobody taking on defenders on the right. It makes defending against Inter so easy as they funnel everything down the middle of the park.

So really disappointing display and it does not give me much hope or optimism for the Champions League trip to Marseille in midweek.

What did you think of the game and the performance?

Its a shame we have a CL fixture next or Ranieri would have been sacked whereas a positive result against Marseille will keep him his job such is the luncay of Moratti’s decision making since Mourinho

SON OF A ….! WHAT THE ….? 4 straight defeat? What the hell is going on right there? Are the boys realized what kind of performance they’re doing right now?? It’s a laughing stock matter and we’re the ones who left with shame and despair! Are the episodes of Gasperini repeating itself so soon? God damn it!!
Could someone throw a hammer to my head so I can wake up from these nightmares? No, wait… it’s actually happening! Damn it again!!

Its horible indeed. We gave up on this season before we even start the first match. Fourth spot its not lost yet, but would be very hard to get there. In my belive its not a problem to splash money on player. Its not a problem to sack Ranieri…. We are waiting on Gardiola. Remember !!? We havent spend money and we have players on mind, but its was a coach what have been waiting. Gasperini, Ranieri was a short term option. Buy some time and knowing the team that react in best posible way, CL spot would be a sure thing. Moratti would not give money just to anyone. Except to Guardiola who is very beloved by Moratti. Around him Moratti would spend on young talented, potencial super stars players, something what he already start.
And if we sack Raineri the next coach would be short term option. If Guardiola personaly tell Moratti that he is staying in Barcelona, then we would go with young [Mourinho to be] coach. AVB is good option, but again, Moratti is going to wait for Pepe till last moment.
When we get coach loved and trusted by Moratti then we are on road bilding a champions team. Till then would be some fustrations :) ))

sorry, for some part i have to dissagree with you bro. this kind of situation many have been predict, but to be honest i’ ve never imagine would be this way (4 straight losses). this troubled starts with the club’s managerial. they don’t seem have a vision where we’re going next when regeneration must take in place. 3 sporting director was enough to show everyone that our club is full of job interference. the appointment of a head coach or manager after benitez sacked, also showed that the club seem to be disoriented about what kind style of play we’re going to use. not to mentioned our beloved president is surrounded by incompetent people.
so, in my opinion if inter want to change, they must change their own management and board of directors! because part of this mess, was a result from their bad decisions!
