Stankovic Out For Two Weeks

by Philip Mboya on January 12, 2010

Inter will need all their stars when they take on city rivals Milan in two weeks time. News that Dejan Stankovic will not feature in Inter’s line up for at least two weeks after injuring a thigh muscle in their 4-3 win over Siena is terrible news for Mourinho who already has to deal with the absence of striker Samuel Eto’o.

Whoever wins this derby will have a good shot at winning the scudetto. A draw will only add to the suspense that is already piling up in the title race.

As Inter hope against hope for Stankovic’s nick of time recovery, news is emerging that French club Olympique Marseille is gearing up to acquire Inter’s Brazilian midfielder Alessandro Mancini. Marseille’s sporting director Jose Anigo is confident that his club can reach an agreement to bring Mancini over to France. This deal however is not permanent. Marseille hope to keep Mancini until the end of the season.

Mancini’s move should take place without much of a fuss as the midfielder is struggling for playing time in Milan. he has hardly featured for Inter this season. With Pandev making a return to his old club, Mourinho needs to make him a constant fixture in his squad to help him run off the fatigue which will help him get back his striking instincts.
