We all knew that a move for Patrick Vieira away from Italy was eminent it was just a question of when. Now premier league club Manchester City look to be closing in on a loan deal for the France international.
Vieira who has made only 15 starts for the Nerazzuri this season – most of them from the bench, is set to finalise his deal to Eastlands within the next week. French club Olympique Lyon who were also keen on landing Vieira’s signature seem to have lost interest in the midfielder.
Vieira will be returning to England after a 5 year absence however, after his loan spell, he may not return to Inter at all. Head coach Mourinho has said that the chance of Vieira returning to Inter at the end of his loan spell is “very little”. Some might argue and say that Vieira has had little or no impact in Inter. I beg to differ. I think that if he was given more playing time then maybe the tough tackling midfielder who we have all come to know when on international duty might have shown himself.
So Vieira’s last game for the Nerazzuri will hopefully be against Chievo – that is if Mourinho picks him to play. With Inter’s midfield hit by injuries and suspensions, Mourinho has no other option but to give Vieira a deserved opportunity to bid farewell to his teammates by not only playing but by also captaining the team. I know Zanetti would not mind.
That said, Inter are looking to keep their winning streak alive when they travel to Chievo for a league game on Wednesday night. The Nerazzurri are 8 points ahead of their city rivals Milan who have a game in hand and i expect them to win this match comfortably.
After selling David Suazo to Genoa on Loan, and with the absence of Samule Eto’o, Mourinho will have to keep faith with Balotelli and Milito. However, that should not give Mourinho anything to worry about. Even if they lose (although that is highly unlikely) Inter will still have a a good 5 point lead over Milan that is if they win.
Inter are definitely on course for a 4th scudetto but like i said, whoever buys wisely in this transfer window will eventually carry the day.

Vieira is a player I admire very much. I hope he can get better chance to perform in England and get selected in world cup come Jun.
The loss will be Inter’s.
