Corriere dello Sport broke the story, although no mention of the transfer fee has been announced. Sassuolo reportedly wanted €40 million for the 22-year-old Italian, but reports are that Inter have included 23-year-old Gianluca Caprari who is currently on loan at Pescara, in the deal, which should bring the price down.
Berardi has 57 goals and provided 37 assists in 152 career appearances for Sassuolo, but he has struggled to recapture his form this term after a lengthy injury layoff, having scored just once since August.
Inter have been tracking Berardi for a couple of years now. The striker ticks all the boxes. He is young, talented, Italian and a die-hard Interista.
On paper this is a good signing for Inter, even at €30 million plus. We get another one one of Italy’s brightest young attacking talents and Berardi will get his dream move to the club he’s always supported.
Next on the wishlist for Inter is said to be 20-year-old Lorenzo Pellegrini, however Roma are said to have a buyback option for their former youth product, who signed for the Reggio Emilia outfit in a €1.25m deal back in 2015.
What do you think of Domenico Berardi? Is he a good signing for Inter? Where does he play next season?
