If you thought the Paul Pogba to Manchester United deal was this never-ending transfer saga, then the Antonio Candreva to Inter deal is threatening to rival it in its twists and turns.
The Lazio winger wants to move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and Lazio have agreed to sell him to Inter. We even know that the transfer fee will be €25 million.
The problem is apparently how that transfer fee will be paid. Inter are offering €21m plus €4m in bonuses or €22m plus €3m in bonuses while Lazio president Claudio Lotito wants €25m up-front.
Once again it baffles me that Inter are fighting over what is essentially pennies here. Candreva has already agreed to a four year contract of €2.7m per season, plus bonuses. He is scheduled for a medical in Milan on Monday.
The signing of the 29-year-old Candreva is viewed as a deal to appease Roberto Mancini. Mancini has been complaining all summer that Inter’s recruitment has been focused on signing young players with upside and resell potential.
Mancini, who is charged with a top three finish this season, wants experienced players who can come into the lineup and make an immediate impact. Candreva is one of those types of players.
What do you think of Antonio Candreva? is he the kind of signing Inter need?
