Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio spoke with Premium Sport just ahead of the Tuesday’s against Roberto Donadoni’s Bologna and discussed the Perisic to Manchester United story as well as the impressive performance of summer signing
“Some people were laughing at us when we signed him, but we knew that we were buying a first-team regular who could be relied on, and now everybody is seeing that,” added Ausilio.
“We monitored Skriniar for a long time, he’s proving he deserves his place at Inter. We made an important investment very aware that we were signing a future starter”
There were many questions regarding single players:
“Vanheusden? He’s a young lad we count on. He’s talented, a serious person and always willing to work hard. Should there be the right opportunity, he will be able to show on the pitch what he’s made of.
“Joao Mario joined us on the very last day of transfer market last year and this disadvantaged him. This season, he has been able to work in a good way with Spalletti.
Finally, Ausilio was asked if he does not regret missing out on signing 16-year-old Pietro Pellegri from Genoa this summer:
Did we try to sign Pellegri over the last months? Well, he’s a great player, but look at the goals that [Jens] Odgaard, [Andrea] Pinamonti and [Edouardo] Vergani have been scoring [for the youth team],” he said.
“Before spending money elsewhere, we try to get the best out of the players we already have here.”
“Karamoh is working well and is available. He will be very helpful to our team.”
