Lautaro Martinez’s agent has claimed that Barcelona are ‘strongly’ interested in signing the Inter striker.
We wrote last week that Lautaro made an impression with Lionel Messi this summer during the Copa America, and that Barcelona have decided that he is the ideal long-term replacement for the aging Luis Suárez.
Inter have denied that the Spanish champions have made a reported €112m bid for the Inter striker, but Alberto Yaque is adamant the Catalans are actively ‘looking’ at the 22-year-old.
“Talk of Barcelona’s interest is true,” Yaque told Ole.
“No-one’s called us, but we know that they’ve been looking at him strongly. It’s true that Barcelona like him.”
While Mauro Icardi has no future with Inter after going on a self-imposed exile last season, but the representative only had praise for the Argentine.
“Mauro came across very well, he always called Lautaro and opened his doors to him. “He’s a very interesting and good lad.”
We asked on Twitter last week that if Inter received a combined €200m for Icardi and Martínez would you sell? And 67% of you said yes.
Considering that Inter only paid Racing Club €14m plus bonuses a year ago for Lautaro, that type of bid would be a huge financial fair play windfall for Inter. And one that would be hard for Suning to reject.
