There are stories everywhere today linking Inter with Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas. I would ask why would Inter be interested in signing him?
The 31-year-old Fabregas is unable to break into the Chelsea line-up Maurizio Sarri signed Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic this summer, to go along with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek
He is out of contract at the end of the season, and is therefore able to sign a pre-contract from January onwards, allowing someone to sign him on a free in the summer.
On paper that is a good deal. The problem is that when we think of Cesc Fabregas we think of the good Cesc. The one of five year or six years ago, when he was one of the best midfielders in Europe.
That is not the Cesc you would be signing in 2019. While he still has the technical and passing ability that he showcased during his youth, but the dynamism he possessed as a Gunner has disappeared.
Spalletti already has Roberto Gagliardini, Matias Vecino, Radja Nainggolan, Borja Valero, Marcelo Brozovic and others at his disposal. The last thing Inter need is another midfielder who lacks dynamism.
Fabregas has been linked with a move to both Inter and AC Milan. Let them overpay for an aging midfielder who is past his prime!
