When the 2018-19 fixtures were released we all pointed to December as being the month that possibly defines Inter’s season.
Well four months on from them, and we are about to see what Inter’s ambitions this season under Luciano Spalletti will be.
From November 28 to December 29, Inter will play six times in the league and twice in the Champions League. The schedule looks like this:
- Wednesday Nov 28: Tottenham v Inter
- Sunday Dec 2, 2018 AS Roma v Inter
- Sunday Dec 9, 2018 Juventus v Inter
- Tuesday Dec 11: Inter v PSV
- Sunday Dec 16, 2018 Inter v Udinese
- Saturday Dec 22, 2018 Chievo v Inter
- Wednesday Dec 26, 2018 Inter v Napoli
- Saturday Dec 29, 2018 Empoli FC v Inter
It’s a brutal run of games, especially the next three games where Inter travel to London, Rome and Turin.
The crucial league trips to Roma and Juventus are bookended by two important Champions League group stage game. Squad rotation will be crucial here for Spalletti, who has has success leading Roma and Zenit into the Champions League knockout stages.
Out of the next four games, two wins (Roma and PSV) a draw (Spurs) and a defeat (Juventus) would probably be a good return from such a difficult run of fixtures.
Players talk all the time about wanting to play on the big stage, which might make the trip to Chievo on 22 December the most difficult match here.
Coming off a run of five important games and then with Napoli set for the Boxing Day, it will be easy for Spalletti’s side to overlook Chievo.
That is why I can Inter beating Udinese, Napoli and Empoli, but dropping points away to Chievo.
My magic ball says 5 wins, two defeats and one draw in Inter’s next 8 matches. How do you think they will fare?
