You cannot make this stuff up. Inter this morning fire coach Frank de Boer, and everyone expected an immediate announcement about who would replace him. Because why would you fire someone heading into an international break unless you had a replacement set? But that apparently is not how Inter works.
The early indication was that Stefano Pioli would replace de Boer. He checked all the boxes. He was Italian. Spoke Italian and was familiar with Serie A. He was/is the choice of the people running the club in Milan.
But Suning is not sold on that idea. They went along with the idea of replacing Mancini with de Boer, but now they want a bigger say in who the new manager will be.
And that manager might not be Italian with names like Laurent Blanc, Andre Villas Boas and Louis van Gaal all being linked with the role in recent weeks.
With a two-week break, it appears that Suning would rather wait and make the right choice rather than rubber-stamp what the Italian led directors want.
Who do you think should replace de Boer?
