Gabriel Barbosa is fast becoming one of the worst signings in Inter history. The latest installment in the Gabigol saga is that the striker has rejected a January move to Jiangsu Suning, despite Inter wanting to swap him for Ramires. Gabigol apparently would prefer to stay in Europe or go back to Santos.
Gaibigol has fallen so far that not even Santos want him, with their president Modesto Roma telling Tuttomercatoweb:
“He’s a great player and I don’t understand why he’s not doing well because I think he’s a great lad.”
“Bringing him back to Brazil, however, isn’t an option. It’s not realistic.”
Inter were conned into signing Gabigol for €33,5m by Kia Joorabchian and the Brazilian flopped at Inter, failed to impress a series of Inter managers.
He was shipped off to Benfica this summer, but the Portuguese side are desperate to cut his loan deal short and send him back to Inter after playing just 26 minutes so far this season for them.
It is amazing to think that Inter were in contact with Gabigol and Gabriel Jesus. Inter went with Gabigol and Jesus went to Manchester City where he has thrived and looks like a terrific player.
Has there been a worse signing in Inter’s history than Gabigol?
