Inter coach Luciano Spalletti has named his 24-man squad for today’s home opener against Torino and there are a couple of eye-raising inclusions, namely Joao Mario and Radja Nainggolan.
Inter have tried unsuccessfully to sell/loan Joao Mario all summer, but his inclusion in the squad indicates that those efforts have been successful and that the midfielder will be part of the squad this season, at least until Janaury.
Summer signing Radja Nainggolan’s inclusion is also a surprise as he missed almost all of the preseason, and last weekend’s Serie A opener with a leg injury.
Except to see Radja make a cameo appearance in the second half as Spalletti says Inter will not rush Nainggolan
“Nainggolan is in the squad but we have to be careful,” Spalletti said.
“Dr Volpi’s medical team are still supervising him due to what his injury was and how he’s been training.
“There is a risk there. We’ll evaluate things and during the course of the match.
Ivan Perisic and Sime Vrsaljko have shaken off their World Cup exploits with Croatia and are expected to get their first starts of the season, while Milan Skriniar is also ready to reclaim his spot in defence from Joao Miranda.
