According to Tuttosport, Inter will add a new €70m release clause in Ivan Perisic’s new contract to stave off interest from Manchester United in the future.
The Croatia international had been a named target throughout the summer, with Jose Mourinho reportedly meeting Perisic back in March.
However, the Nerazzurri stood firm and would not lower their €55m asking price.
Now the winger is expected to sign a new contract that will make him the second highest paid player, behind Mauro Icardi.
Perisic’s contract will pay him a base salary of €4.7m net-per season. Icardi is still Inter’s most expensive player as he has an additional €450,000-a-year image rights and the fact that he will receive a further 10 per-cent increase should Inter qualify for next season’s Champions League.
