The competition is played between the winners of the youth league and the youth Coppa Italia, and the Giallorossi beat Inter 4-0 last season.
Facundo Colido opened the scoring in today’s match, but Andrea Marcucci equalised with an excellent lobbed finish.
The sides couldn’t be separated in the remaining minutes, and the match went to extra-time.
Just when it appeared the match would be heading to extra-time, Colido nipped in ahead of Andrea Ciofi to put his side back in front.
The win gave Stefano Vecchi his fourth major trophy on the Nerazzurri bench. His other titles were the 2015 Torneo di Viareggio, 2016 Coppa Italia Primavera and 2017 Campionato Nazionale Primavera.
“We’ve developed a lot in these last four years. We’ve managed to win everything there is to win; I’d like to thank the staff and the players” Vecchi said.
“Should Spalletti take some players from the youth squad? The difference between the teams is too big and whilst a player might get in the first team squad, it will be difficult for him to find a space because of that difference. Colidio has a lot of quality as well as the desire to play well and win. He was very good and he knew how to take his chances.”
