Inter’s Wage Bill Jumps 41 Percent

La Gazzetta Dello Sport have published their annual list of the player salaries in Serie A and last season’s success on the pitch has seen Inter’s wages soar from €82m in 2017 to €116m this season.

Inter now has the third highest wage bill in Serie A, behind Juventus at €219m and Milan at €140m as success on the field has translated into an increasing wage bill at Inter

There is very little difference in wages between Inter’s stars and the squad players, which is a little worrying. Arsenal did the same for years and they ended up overpaying for average players and underpaying its stars. Are Inter heading the same way?

Consider that Inter’s best defender is Milan Škriniar, who earns €1.7m, which is literally half of what both his defensive partners make and is almost €1m a year less than Ranocchia. That has to change.

In fact, only Mauro Icardo and Radja Nainggolan take place in the top ten list of highest paid players in Serie A as joint-10th. Both earn €4.5m per year, which is the highest salary at Inter. Putting that into perspective with some other big clubs, Higuain earns €9.5m for Milan, while Ronaldo has a salary of €31m.
