Is Inter better under Rafa than Mourinho?

Really interesting article on the BBC web site about Rafa Benitez and whether Inter are playing a more attractive brand of football under Benitez than they did under Mourinho.

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:

“In some ways their football is even better than last season,” said John Foot, author of Calcio: The History of Italian Football. “It’s less cagey, less Catenaccio-esque than Mourinho would play. The first half hour against Tottenham was pretty expansive football and the team can almost play with its eyes closed now. It’s already clear that they are going to be in contention for all these trophies right to the end of the season.”

“The team keep the ball more under Benitez and the defensive line is usually pushed higher up the pitch,” added Tor-Kristian Karlsen, a well-travelled scout and regular columnist for Calcio Italia magazine. “Mourinho was more focused on defence and relied more on counter-attacks and the magic of individual players than the collective, rehearsed moves favoured by the Spaniard.”

Very interesting comments. At times I feel that Inter are more adventuresome under Benitez and thus more pleasing to the eye. But on the other hand, Mourinho won trophes and ultimately that is what counts.

What do you think? Are Inter better under Rafa than Mourinho?

I would like see the complete article because perhaps Benitez is less defensive, i think that to Inter now is more complicated to score with Benitez than Mourinho.

Inter is better under Rafa, because Rafa is present!

As I sad before,Rafa is equal-level tactician as Jose is. In fact,Jose is better in just one thing-Motivation Power. And that is all. Both are the top coaches, along with Sir Alex,Hiddink,Carlo and Wenger. Pep is not at that level right now.

Mourinho paved the way for Benitez just like he did at Chelsea and he is doing in Madrid. Inter was complicated when Mourinho came in and he make his team play very carefully. He fixed the problems and here you go. If you think Inter is playing more attacking or attractive football then you have to see Real Madrid under mourinho. Please do not compare or contrast Mourinho and Benitez ever again because they are not in the same class. Benitez almost relegated a good team like Liverpool. Moreover the season is not halfway to know how well he is doing. Mourinho is a football God. Hala Madrid!

It is obviously that you are Real Madrid fan,and I understand that you like Mourinho a lot. I do too,and mine nickname is in honour of Jose and all that he has done for Inter. And I saw Real under Mourinho, and can say it is fantastic. But tell me,did you forget 5-0 game at Anfield, three years of domination in Europe by Liverpool at the time, two CL finals? And tell me,were Liverpool that good team before Benitez? And,didnt Rafa slaps faces, both Madrid and Barcelona as a Valencia coach? O yes, he did. So yes he is that good coach to be compared head-to-head with Jose.

I think rafa is a good coach. I definately see inter playing more attractive futbol. I think he should cut some players to help free up the budget. Jose was a great coach but as far as I know it didn’t seem like he was doing anything for the teams future. Rafa is bringing in youth which is good but like I said I think it’s time to get rid of suazo, rivas, obinna. Muntari wants to leave so let’s let them go. Maybe bring in one real talented player. I dunno both great coaches I’ll never forget rafa with that Liverpool team years ago. And mourinho won’t be forgotten either
