Inter will reportedly turn to Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ante Rebic if they cannot sign Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku. But I am not sure if that deal will be any easier to compete that the Lukaku one.
Lukaku is Inter and Antonio Conte’s first choice to, but a deal is proving hard to come by as United are demanding no less than €85m for the Belgian. And the Premier League side are not interested in any sort of loan deal.
As a result, Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Nerazzurri have begun checking out alternatives, and one of those on the short-list is Rebic.
Rebic is a strange alternative to Lukaku as he is not a proven goalscorer, The 25-year-old has only scored 22 goals from a variety of attacking positions in his three seasons with Eintracht, with a career high of 10 goals last season.
That is not the kind of striking power that Inter need if they want to challenge Juventus or Napoli next season.
Two factors that make this deal difficult to complete is that the German side have already sold their top striker, Luka Jovic’s to Real Madrid for €60m this summer. Plus Fiorentina are entitled to 50 percent of any transfer fee, so I don’t see what incentive that Eintracht has to sell.
