Jovetic, Gabigol And Icardi

News today on three of Inter’s strikers, Stevan Jovetic, Gabigol and Mauro Icardi.

Inter have agreed to sell Jovetic to Monaco for €11 million, and pictures were leaked on Monday of the striker wearing Kylian Mbappe’s No 10 jersey. Pictures of Jovetic in Monaco’s strip, presumably from an official photoshoot, emerged on Monday morning.

Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa is set to complete a loan move to Benfica today. Gabigol has failed to impress a series of Inter managers and now he is heading to Benfica. Reports out of Portugal suggest that Benfica were only willing to pay for housing and a car for the striker and they wanted Inter to pick up 100% of this wages.

Not sure this is the best destination for Gabigol to get his career back on track and it will be interesting to see if Benfica includes him in their Champions League squad.

The departure of Jovetic and Gabigol leaves Inter with only Eder and Andrea Pinamonti as recognized back-ups to Icardi.

As for Icardi, I have written before about how Inter needs to redo his contact as his €110mm release clause suddenly looks low in todays hyper-inflated transfer market where Chelsea paid a reported €80m (includes add-ons) for 24-year striker Álvaro Morata this summer. PSG just spent €180m for teenage striker Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona have paid €145m for Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.

Well it seems that Suning have realized this also, and are preparing a lucrative renewal for Inter’s captain whose current contract is worth €5m a season and expires in 2021.

Accoring to reports the Nerazzurri would be proposing an extra year, a pay rise and a higher release clause for Icardi who has already scored four goals in two games this season, with braces against Fiorentina and Roma.
