Marcelo Brozovic says he is coming off “my best season” at Inter thanks to a change of tactics and believes they can “interrupt the Juventus domination.”
The Croatia international had seemed on the verge of an exit and jeered by fans, but turned his season around with some strong performances at the end of the year.
“This has been the best season of my career so far,” he told Vecernji.
“I got to play in my natural position in the last 10 games and I felt good. I am happy. There were some links for a move to Spain, but on the last day they wouldn’t let me leave. I continued training, the Coach gave me a chance and I made the most of it.
“I hope to remain at Inter, as it’s all fantastic here, the club and the city. It was tough with the fans, but I told myself to just play to the best of my abilities in every game and with time, the jeers were replaced by applause.
“Luciano Spalletti thought I could do better in other roles, but in the match against Napoli, he put me in my natural position due to injuries for another two or three players. After that game, I kept playing to the end of the season.”
Inter beat Lazio 3-2 in a dramatic final match to secure their Champions League qualification.
“It’s a dream to be able to play in the Champions League. I think that with two or three new buys, we can interrupt the Juventus domination of Serie A.”
