It is a story that will not go away. Barcelona remain steadfast in their pursuit of landing Lautaro Martinez in the summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants’ No 1 target in the off-season remains the Inter Milan striker. The Spanish publication claims that Martinez can be bought for €100m during a two-week span in July.
Martinez has been one of the Inter stars this season, scoring 16 goals in 27 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side in all competitions – forming a devastating strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku too.
Barcelona’s attack is currently threadbare due to Luis Suarez (knee) and fellow forward Ousmane Dembele (hamstring) being out of action.
Losing the 22-year-old Martinez would be devastating for Inter this summer, especially as Mauro Icardi will also complete his transfer to PSG, or elsewhere. Martinez and Icardi are two of the best young strikers in football. Clubs that want to compete for trophies year after year, do not let goalscorers leave, especially someone like Martinez who is just starting to come into his own.
