Mercato: Beppe Marotta Discusses Icardi And Cancelo

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta calls reports of Inter captain Mauro Icardi moving to Turin this summer as “fantasy football”.

The Icardi to Juve story has been one of the biggest talking points of the summer with the suggestion that Gonzalo Higuain could be sold, possibly as part of a deal for Inter captain Mauro Icardi.

“Juventus players are considered unsellable, up until the moment they ask to be sold. In the case of Higuain, even if he’s at the World Cup, we’ve received no such request” Marotta said outside an event in Milan on Tuesday.

“Icardi is a suggestion. Obviously we’re talking about an excellent player, one who belongs to Inter, and then there are these news reports that we’ve approached him.

“All that falls into the realms of fantasy, fantasy football.”

Another player who has been linked with a move to Juventus is fullback Joao Cancelo, who impressed during his loan spell with the Nerazzurri last season.

“Cancelo is a top player and the type of profile we’re looking for, but at the moment there’s no negotiation going on,” Marotta insisted.

“All I can say is that he’s an interesting player.”
