There will be a huge upheaval at the Bernabéu this summer as Real president Florentino Pérez spends big to refreshen his aging squad.
Reportedly one of the targets for Real is Icardi and Argentina National team manager Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed that the striker is intrigued by a move to arguably the biggest club in the world.
In an interview with Spanish media outlet AS, the former Sevilla manager stated that he is already thinking about the attacking options he will have available in Russia this summer.
One of those options is Icardi and when the question came up about the captain joining Real Madrid, Sampaoli gave a major insight:
“We are really lucky to have these players in attack. Icardi is currently being observed by Real Madrid and he is very much intrigued by that.
“I have told him not to be worried about any links or rumors just before the World Cup and play his natural game. If he continues to play like this then he will surely be called up for the national team.
“There is absolutely no way of stopping him.”
Icardi has a €100m buyout clause, that expires at the end of June. With Icardi’s market value at about €150m, I would expect a bid from Real Madrid before June 30.
Would you sell Icardi for €100m?
