Unable to land Roma defender Kostas Manolas, Inter have moved on to Plan B, which is reportedly Sampdoria centre-back Milan Skriniar. The deal is reported to be €10m plus Gianluca Caprari.
The 22-year-old Slovak international was a key part of the Sampdoria backline last season, making 35 Serie A appearances.
Inter’s technical director Walter Sabatini is expected to return from China on Friday, at which point the deal is expected to be completed,
Skriniar is a cheaper version of Manolas. Both are comfortable with the ball at their feet, an indication of the style of play for Inter next season.
But he is not the finished product like Manolas, which makes me wonder if Sabatini will be signing a more experienced center back to partner Skriniar? Or maybe this is a role they feel that Medel can play?
