According to Sky Sports, Joao Mario will join West Ham on loan for the rest of the season with the English club having the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer for €30. The midfielder is expected to make his debut against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Tuesday.
With Gabigol rejoining Santos, and Joao Mario joining West Ham, Suning’s two big money summer moves in 2016 have proven to be a bust.
Suning, inexperienced at the time in European football, leaned heavily on the advice of agent Kia Joorabchian, who happens to be Joao Mario’s agent that summer. The results we disastrous.
But credit to Suning. They realized the mistakes they had made. They got rid of Joorabchian and brought in Walter Sabatini to oversee Inter’s transfer policy.
While he has not batted 100%, Inter’s record in the transfer market is much better under Sabatini than it was before him.
