Milito: “Mazzarri will take us far”

Diego Milito is raring to go. He spoke of Inter and president Moratti, but also of his return to the pitch that is closer ever day, and of the charge he gets from his fans. The interview was given to Mediaset after his morning training session:

“Let’s wait and see what happens. I think what matters most is always what’s best for Inter,” he responded to questions about negotiations between the Nerazzurri and Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir. “What counts is that president Moratti is happy, then we’ll see.”

Milito is still recovering from the serious knee injury he suffered in February (today he performed part of his workout with the group, as did Mudingayi). Regarding the fans who follow Inter every day, even from their pre-season training camp in Pinzolo:

“I’m very happy for the fact they’re here with us. There are always plenty of them and they show me so much support. I’ll try to repay them on the pitch. I’m working hard. I still need more time to come back, but I’m on the right path.”

On working with Walter Mazzarri:

“He makes you work a lot but I think it will be important for our fitness later on. Is he a leader like Mourinho? I hope so, Inter have everything they need to do well: he’s a good coach and hopefully he can take us back to the top.”

After dismissing any talk of problems over his contract renewal (“There are no problems in this regard”), El Principe spoke about Mauro Icardi and Ishak Belfodil:

“I’m happy they’ve come here because they’re two lads with great futures ahead of them. We mustn’t place too much responsibility on their shoulders but they’ll be a success. Belfodil and Ramadan? I have no idea how he does it in this heat but I take my hat off to him.”
