Milito On The Derby, His Future And Stramaccioni

Good interview with Diego Milito in Friday’s La Gazzetta dello Sport where he spoke about the derby, where he will be playing next season and playing for Stramaccioni.

Here are some of the highlights:

On a top three finish

“Until we are mathematically ruled out we’ll fight on. We want to win these two matches. We know it won’t be easy because there are teams ahead of us and it doesn’t depend solely on us any more.”

Winning the derby

“The derby is a special match for the team and for the fans,” he explained on Sky Sport. “We’ll be going out to win it without thinking too much about league positions, because it’s important and we want to win it for the sake of our fans.”

On The Scudetto Race and how winning means Juve might win the title

“That’s a fact but we are concentrating on Inter and giving our fans something to cheer about after a particularly hard season.”

On Andrea Stamaccioni

“His arrival was a positive move, the team were a little more consistent and performed much better, getting back into the race after finding themselves a long way off third place,” he explained. He brought enthusiasm and that helped us play well in the last few matches. He fitted in well with us. He’s a good coach, he prepared us well for the matches and he is enthusiastic. His contract doesn’t depend on us, but our perception is that he can continue as coach.”

On His Future:

“I’ve said it all year, even when rumours had it that I was on my way out, I’m playing in a great team and for a great club,” explained Milito. “It depends on what the club wants to do, but I’m sure I’ll be here next year, at least I hope so. We’ll be back in the running again next season, our president always tries to invest with winning in mind.”
