Former Nerazzurri striker Diego Milito was quoted on Friday by Corriere dello Sport as saying that that vice-President Javier Zanetti is “the one person” who could bring the Barcelona star Lionel Messi to Italy”.
“I think it’s difficult to see Leo leaving Barcelona,” Milito cautioned, speaking to Corriere dello Sport.
“In football though, dreaming costs nothing. And sometimes dreams come true…
“Zanetti has an incredible relationship with him, and if there’s one person who can convince Messi to come to Inter then it’s Pupi. It would be a great signing.”
But Moratti doesn’t think that deal is realistic and instead thinks that Suning are working on signing a different world class player:
“I’ve never heard any talk of Messi,” Moratti told ANSA after a meeting with the Chinese owners.
“It may be that they’re organising a big signing for the future, but they’ve never talked about the Argentine.
“The meeting? They kindly invited us to lunch. Suning are doing very well, there’s a good atmosphere at the club and that’s reflected in the team.
“[Stefano] Pioli is a great Coach and the results prove that. Inter are going through a good period and it bodes well.
“The Champions League? We have to take things game-by-game and then we’ll see where we end up.”
