This could be quite the week for Inter fans with the potential arrivals of Alexis Sanchez and Arkadiusz Milik and the departure of Mauro Icardi.
Meanwhile Napoli have reportedly given Mauro Icardi until Wednesday to accept a transfer, after having Inter accept an offer of Arkadiusz Milik plus €10m for the former Inter captain.
The main sticking point, as it has been all summer, is that Icardi is refusing to leave for anyone except Juventus.
The problem for Icardi is that Juventus don’t have room for him at the moment. Dybala has made it clear he wants to remain at Juventus and scored a sensational goal in a friendly win over Triestina last weekn, celebrating by pointing to the name on the back of the jersey and patting the club badge on his chest.
Juventus have tried to move Gonzalo Higuain, but have been unable too. That leaves Mario Mandzukic as the favourite to ship out before the window closes, and his sale will not generate enough funds for Juventus to afford Icardi.
That leaves Icardi with a choice of Napoli or being stranded at Inter. Icardi has had plenty of opportunities to move to Naples in the last year, but has repeatedly turned them down. I don’t see that changing in the next 72 hours.
He and his family like living in Milan and Lake Cumo. Which is why I think that this Icardi saga will drag on, because when the transfer window closes I expect him to still be an Inter player.
Where do you think Icardi will be when the transfer window closes?
