Stefano Pioli confirms Inter want to win the Coppa Italia this season, but they’ll have to be “precise” against Lazio.
The Nerazzurri would advance to the Semi-Finals with a win tomorrow night, but Pioli isn’t underestimating his old team.
“The teams have the same ambition,” Pioli pointed out in his pre-match Press conference.
“The Coppa Italia is a trophy which every team wants to win. We’re one of them.
“The pitfalls will be those of a knockout game, our opponents are having a great season and we’ll need to be at our best.
“We have grown, our winning run has given us enthusiasm and we need to build on that. It all depends on our results.
“If we win tomorrow we’d go to the Semi-Finals, but our opponents have quality and they caused us a lot of problems in the first half when we met in the League.
“We’ll need a precise Inter, both tactically and technically.”
Lazio lost to Chievo at the weekend, despite having 28 shot and over 60 per cent of possession.
“Lazio are an opponent to be feared nonetheless. They lost the kind of match that happens once a year. We respect them, but we have to be focused on our performance.
“We know there’s an important objective to play for in tomorrow night’s match, and we’ll give everything to try and win.”
Results went in favour of Inter at the weekend, as they moved to within three points of a Champions League place…
“We just have to stay focused on what we can control,” Pioli cautioned.
“We haven’t achieved anything yet, we just have to advance with calm and concentration to ensure that we have things in our hands by May 28 [the final day of the season].”
