Luciano Spalletti says there are “many pitfalls” in the Serie A opener with Sassuolo, but reminds Giorgio Squinzi of his Inter jibe.
The Neroverdi won at San Siro in May, after which the owner declared “Every time we beat Inter I put a picture in my office with the result and the date. We’re at six now and there’s no space left!”.
The fixtures were drawn for the 2018-19 season today, and the first match sees Inter travel to Emilia.
“I think the start of the league season always hides many pitfalls,” Spalletti warned on Inter TV.
“No-one has ever shown that your first result conditions your season, there are many things to put in place, but we do have to win the first one.
“Not least to cause problems for the Sassuolo President, who said he has no more room on his wall for pictures of wins over Inter.
“He’s already got a lot, so we need to try and take away the chance for any more…”
It looks like a good schedule for Inter as they don’t play a top side until the Derby della Madonnina which will be during Week 9 and Inter will be the host.
The Nerazzurri will face their first top five team in Week 10 when they will travel to Lazio. They will travel to face Juventus in Week 15. They will host Napoli on Boxing day and close out the first half of the season away to Empoli.
