According to their website, the Nerazzurri are interested in the 25-year-old, whose contract at White Hart Lane expires in the summer of 2018.
The story goes that sporting Director Piero Ausilio is ready to offer the Premier League side, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in return.
That is where the story breaks down. Spurs paid Roma €30 million for Lamela back in 2013, but with a year left on his contract, his market value today is closer to €10 million. Brozovic on the other hand has a €50m buyout clause and is currently attracting attention from Jose Mourinho and Manchester United,
So why would Inter offer Brozovic for Lamela straight up? That is a great deal for the Premier League side, but a horrible one for Inter.
Another reason why this would be a bad deal for Inter is that Lamela has been out of action since October with a hip injury and has been at odds with Tottenham as to how best to treat the injury. He travelled to Rome in January to link up with his former club AS Roma to try to see if their medical team could address the problem after growing more frustrated with Spurs.
What do you think? Would you swap Marcelo Brozovic for Erik Lamela?
