It will be a tough reintroduction to Champions League football for Inter this season after they were drawn in a group with Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven.
“We know that there are very strong sides in this tournament and we ended up in a difficult group, but will prepare well,” the Vice-President told Sky Sport Italia.
“We are aware of the difficulties we face, but we are Inter and must think positive. Barcelona is more than just Lionel Messi, as they have great players who can do extraordinary things and keep possession well.”
Barcelona are the obvious favorites to win the group and Luciano Spalletti’s side will face the difficult task of defeating the Premier League side if they are to progress to the knockout stages. Tottenham are keen to make their mark on the Champions League, having been knocked out at the last 16 stage by Juventus last term.
Even PSV will be no walkover, having beaten off Ajax to win the Eredivisie title last season. The Dutch side can count the likes of Hirving Lozano and Luuk De Jong among their ranks.
Inter’s Champions League Opponents
Their last meeting came at Camp Nou in the semi-finals in 2010, when a defensive masterclass from Jose Mourinho’s Inter saw the Nerazzurri through on aggregate despite a 1-0 defeat.
Their last clash with Inter was notable for the torrid time Gareth Bale gave Maicon in a 3-1 win for the English side.
