His sale to Liverpool in 2013 for €9m was the worst sale by Inter in recent memory. He was just a kid when he left Inter, but you could see the talent that was waiting to develop.
Under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho became a star and that talent led to him being sold to Barcelona for €90m.
That turned out to be a bad move by the Barcelona playmaker and Coutinho’s career has floundered ever since he left Anfield.
It looks like Countinho is trying to go back in time and return to where it all began for him, by making a shock return to Inter on a two-year loan deal.
According to Tuttosport, Coutinho is seen as a viable substitute for striker Lautaro Martinez, who’s linked with a transfer away from Inter in the summertime.
If Inter did sign Coutinho, it would require Antonio Conte to change tactics and formation. Instead of playing 3-5-2 with Martinez and Romelu Lukaku up-front, Inter would switch to a formation that would see Coutinho play alongside Christian Eriksen just behind Lukaku.
What do you think about Inter signing Coutinho. Is it a good move?
