Really good performance and win by Inter today in the derby. Diego Milito who seems to be regaining his goal scoring form as he capitalized on a mistake by Abate to score in the 54th minute.
Some quick thoughts on tonight’s win:
- Good solid performance by Inter defensively. Other than the shot by Van Bommel that hit the woodwork, Julio Cesar did not have a lot of do.That is four clean sheets out of five games for Inter, a sign that Ranieri’s system is working

“They said Milito and I couldn’t play together? Whenever I’ve been asked in interviews I’ve always said that Diego is a very intelligent player who knows how to make the right movements and it’s easy to play alongside him. It’s brilliant when we both manage to get on the score sheet.”
There were plenty of goals tonight and among the scorers was Giampaolo Pazzini, who went on to talk to Inter Channel about his form:

“I’ve always maintained that I believe in the work the lads have been putting in and in their determination and that they weren’t at the end of the line. They’ve repaid me for my faith in them,” said Claudio Ranieri after the match.

It’s been a long time coming, but Inter warmed up for next weekend’s Milan derby with an impressive 5-0 thrashing of Parma today.
The first 45 minutes might well have been Inter’s best half of the season. Diego Milito scored twice and Thiago Motta scored also, Inter moved to within three points of the top three ahead of tomorrow’s remaining fixtures.
TWo things that impressed me today was the performance of Diego Milito and Ricardo Alvarez.
Alvarez looked like the player we all hoped he could be. He had an air of confidence that was missing before the winter break.

“This win gives us the Christmas we wanted, that’s the most important thing,” smiled Claudio Ranieri, speaking about the way Inter ended 2011 – with four consecutive wins. “We’re slowly starting to get there now, back to where Inter belong,” he continued. “We want to keep on improving from one game to the next. The team was playing well, we were a goal down and we’d hit the woodwork four times, but the lads carried on fighting and we got there in the end.”

Inter ended the first half of the season in style in a come from behind 4-1 victory over Lecce last night, for their fourth consecutive victory. Getting on the scoresheet for the Nerazzurri were Pazzini, Milito (his first in 3-months), Cambiasso and Alvarez (first goal in Serie A). Inter also hit the woodwork four times in the first half.
THE GOALS
Lecce opened the scoring when Obodo picked out Muriel just on the edge of offside; the forward then feinted his way past Lucio and Maicon to place his low shot in the corner.

Inter Milan are up to fifth place in Serie A after a 1-0 victory away to Cesena. Ranocchia was the goalscoring hero for Inter, but they did need a terrific Julio Cesar save in the dying minutes to secure all three points.
This was not a dominant Inter performance by any stretch, but the team has five victories in their last six matches and three victories on the trot for the first time in seven months. Julio Cesar also kept a clean sheet for the second match in a row (and just one goal conceded in the last five matches).

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti praised his teammates after coming away with a hard-earned 1-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The narrow scoreline did not reflect the dominant nature of Inter Milan’s win, where the Nerazzurri had 17 attempts on goal, as compared to four by the home side.
“[It was] an important test at a difficult ground. We needed a win like this” Zanetti told the Inter web site. We risked almost nothing and we were also dangerous many times. The important thing was having seen a very solid Inter that knew how to play their game.”

Claudio Ranieri lavished praise on his young players after Tuesday’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Genoa.
Speaking after the game, Ranieri praised his team’s performance, especially considering Genoa’s defensive mindset.
“I think it was a better performance from us,” Ranieri told Sky Sport Italia. “Genoa were very closed at the back, their first shot on goal was on 80 minutes, but we were definitely good value for the three points.”
Ranieri gave an opportunity to young left-back Marco Faraoni, while loan signing Andrea Poli made his first start for the club since joining from Sampdoria in the summer, and the coach was especially pleased with the latter’s performance.

Yuto Nagatomo’s powerful header helped Inter beat Genoa 1-0 yesterday, the teams fourth win in its last five Serie A games. Inter have steadily been climbing the table and are now in sixth place, level with Palermo and one point behind Napoli. As we approach the Christmas break, suddenly third place is attainable, although Inter are still a full eight points away from that.
